The Universal Hip-Hop Parade for Social Justice, Inc. is a Bed-Stuy based 501c-3 organization established in 2000 that assembles activists, artists, businesses, and neighbors to partake in the UHHP annual parade over the last 18 years. Led by founder Jeffery Kazembe Batts the UHHP engages activists. artists, community leaders, educators, and entrepreneurs to organize the parade. The organization creates political and social involvement and events benefiting Central Brooklyn in addition to adjoining communities in particular those of African ancestry.
Although the parade is a significant part of the UHHP Inc. the mission to empower communities and individuals through education, resources and training are equally important. While shaping the activism spirit, concurrently shedding light on existing social justice issues plaguing our communities and nation. The organization produces several mediums of dispersing information included but not limited to town hall events, youth education, leadership and community awareness. The parade bridges the gap between our community and youths in preparation to pass the baton and develop our next level leaders.
